AHA Inaugural Meeting -- The AHA is going to be hosting monthly meetings at a local restaurant and showing handball games from around the world. I have a couple to get me started, but hopefully you can get me more.
This has a few benefits.
- Handballers get to socialize off the court with each other and might be able to get a better understanding of what this is all about. We are recreational handball players, so the association has to offer more than just competition. There must also be social gatherings.
- Americans get to see handball played the proper way. Other than National Team members, no one in this country ever gets to see real handball. And the National Team is usually getting so smoked they don't understand what is going on.
- It creates a place where newcomers to this country/city can go at a determined time to meet other handballers, and hopefully, become affiliated with a club. Many people contact me every day about becoming involved, yet there is no defined starting/entry point. This is will be good to get people involved and accustomed to handball in America.
- It provides an non-threatening opportunity for newcomers and beginners to become involved in the sport.

Game of the Month: 2000 Olympic Final – Sweden v. Russia
Each meeting we will be showing a marquee game from around the world. The first half-hour of each meeting will be devoted to current events and topics. At approximately 8pm, the “Game of the Month” will begin. This month’s marquee match is the 2000 Olympic final featuring Sweden v. Russia.
Club News: Individuals interested in joining a club are more than welcome to attend. Numerous club representatives will be in attendance. This is a good initial way to meet other handballers in the Atlanta community and determine which club setting is right for you. Foreign players and coaches are encouraged to attend, as there are many clubs that could always use an experienced player or coach.
Come watch this fantastically exciting match over dinner & drinks and mingle with other handballers.
